Abstract
This article summarizes the main results of the archaeological works which were carried out in autumn of 2008 by the joint team of Irkutsk State University and Laboratory of Archeology and Palaeoecology of IAET SB RAS. The multilayered sites of Ust-Kovinsky ensemble – Ust-Kova and Ust-Kova II are presented by archaeological materials from the first quarter of the Upper Pleistocene to the Middle Ages and modern time. Conventionally the identified five levels of cultural deposits generally coincide with the previously proposed scheme of archaeological periodization of the cultural remains. The detailed description of a stratigraphy of geological deposits is given. Features of the organization of the structural basis and friable deposits of morfo-sculptural design of the lifted modern relief of the region of Ust-Kova ensemble are defined. We held the brief analysis of the main morfo-technological characteristics of the collections of stone artifacts that were received from sites.
