The Ust’-belaia Pottery of Sergushkin-1 Point «A» Site

Abstract

This article represents the archaeological pottery materials of the Ust’-Belaia type from the Sergushkin-1 point «A» site, situated on Sergushkin island in the Northern Priangariye. This type of pottery was deducted by Saveliev N. A. and Medvedev G. I. based on the Ust’- Belaia site in the Cis-Baikal. With the ornament variants, nowadays its area includes territories from the Cis-Baikal to the Kuznetsk Altau. The question of origin, distribution, chronological and cultural identity of the Ust’-Belaia pottery remains uncertain. Based on the materials of the Sergushkin-1 point «A» site, one of the main object speaking of this cultural phenomena, the technical morphological peculiarities and different variants of ornaments of the Ust’-Belaia pottery are examined. The description of the stone and bone industry related to the pottery complex is given. To decide the chronology of the Ust’- Belaia complex of the site, some carbon deposits of one vessel determined the date – 6000±100 BP (Spb_774). This period characterizes the early time of the Ust’-Belaia pottery of the Sergushkin-1 point «A» site. As for the upper chronological mark, the authors give the date of the Serovo complex of the Vvoz site, situated 1 km to the North of the same island – 4688±100 BP. (Spb_579).
