Abstract

Up to the date there was no specific study on the ancient fishing of Northern Angara region. Besides, some fishing tools were regularly found on different archeological objects of different dates, starting with the first steps of discovering the ancient history of the region. The Boguchan expedition materials were added to the fund of sources, helping to reveal the detailed aspects of fishing of the Early Holocene. One of the most important places belongs to the multilayer site Listvenichniy Island. Found on this object, a vast fish fauna and number of fishing tools demonstrate the advanced fishing in 9000-8000 BP manifested in different ways of fishing and certain seasonality. Listvenichniy Island, in the context of general issues of Pleistocene-Holocene archeology of Baikal Siberia and neighbor areas, with its elaborated and technologically verified tools, executes a big importance on the study of early stages of ancient fishing. On the other side, it represents the original pre-ceramic culture manifestation that influenced the Neolithic period of the region.
