Abstract

In the summer of 2018 the archaeological expedition of Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography SB RAS has continued the joint studies of the Listvenka multilayered site within the framework of the project of archaeological sites certification around Krasnoyarsk. Listvenka site (suburbs of Divnogorsk city) is located on the terrace (23 meters high) of the right bank of Listvenka-Zarechnaya River. Archaeological investigations have been conducted for 15 years under the directions of N. I. Drozdov (1983–1986) and E. V. Akimova (1987–1997). In 2018 10 test pits was excavated with the aim of establishing boundaries of the protected site. The most informative cultural layer was found on the test pit № 5 at a depth of 1.2-1.4 m from the modern day surface. Archaeological and faunal materials are concentrated around dispel fireplace. In total, 646 stone artifacts were found in this pit. Archaeological materials obtained in 2018 have analogies with the material of 12a–12g cultural layers found in excavation of the pit № 3 (1990 field work). According to the classical archaeological scheme “Afontovo/Kokorevo” archaeological assemblage of 12a–12g cultural layers should be lying in an intermediate. There are combining blade technology with the tools of “Afontovo group”. One of the features of assemblages 12g layer is using local dark grey chert as a raw material. This type of raw material is characteristic only for this layer. The main part of the assemblages found in 2018 was made of dark grey chert. The results of dating materials in 2018 do not match with the classic chronological scheme for Listvenka site and later Paleolithic of Yenisei region. According to the new data we can assume that this layer is elder than the early stage of Kokorevo culture. As a result, we can suppose that in Late Paleolithic period people lived along the bank of Listvenka-Zarechnaya River near the rock outcrops as well as along the Yenisei River. This opens a new perspective of Listvenka site investigation with using all the modern methods of archaeological science.
